In The Tender Veil, I intertwine fragments from Alphonse Bertillon’s early forensic crime scene photographs with botanical imagery. Originally meant as evidence, these Parisian images are re-examined as quiet witnesses of human presence.
Through collage, I explore how we look at violence and how visual practice can offer a form of repair or dignity.
Each work becomes both an ode and an offering: to the anonymous subjects, to the pioneers of early photography, and to the fragile persistence of life itself.
The Tender Veil was presented at the Collage:Books Symposium by Kolaj Institute in Montreal on 3 octobre 2025.
